I AM THE KNEE

October 16th, 2008

I AM THE KNEE
I allow you the flexibility to bend down and move around.  I am controlled primarily by your kidney energies.  The kidney energies relate to fear and will power.

I have always been a strong metaphor for you in your life.  I represent your willpower.  When, as a child, you wanted to summon your willpower in defiance, you would lock your knees.  You learned the metaphor of bending your knees in submission to your God, your leader or your victor.  When you have issues around your willpower, they will reflect in disturbances in my function.

You use willpower to help overcome fear-the other energy of the kidneys.  These two  opposing forces within the kidneys represent the two opposing forces of the fire and water balance in the dualistic yang/yin functions of the kidneys.

When you experience extreme fear, your knees will go weak.  Fortunately, that doesn’t happen too often in modern society.  Something else happens though, that can be more destructive because of its insidious nature.  In modern society, the biggest fear is the fear of coping.  Fear of coping with money, work, relationships, health, etc.  When you live with this kind of fear, I will be weakened and prone to injury.  If it is prolonged over a long time and is coupled with weakened willpower to overcome the fear, then my brain will strengthen me by making me inflexible and rigid.  You will call this arthritis.

The inner side of me is controlled by the spleen/pancreas.  So if you hurt my medial ligaments, then you are worrying about something you are not coping with.  (the spleen/pancreas controls worry.)

My outer side is controlled by the gall bladder so if you injure that part, you are fearful of making a decision about something.

The cruciate ligament deep inside my center relates to the deepest aspect of willpower – the will to survive.  When I am injured, you are usually deeply questioning aspects of your very life and existence.  This does not mean you are suicidal, just that you are deeply questioning your life, its direction, and your will to follow through and do what needs to be done in your life.

The bladder controls the back of me.  The bladder meridian profoundly influences the
central nervous system and activity.  When that part of me is injured, it usually relates to your allowing your will power to become over controlled by your nervous system.  You become rigid, inflexible and fearful underneath.  You ‘stand up’ for your self in too reactive a way.

If your hamstrings are also involved the colon (letting go) controls them.  That means that you are fearful of letting go of the ‘stance’ you are taking – to your detriment.  Usually, I start aching in the back when you are going through a period of your life when your beliefs are being challenged and you are afraid to let go of them.

When we treat these joints with BODYTALK we are treating all the aspects of the joints – physical and psychological.  By doing this, the BodyTalkSystem™ is providing a truly holistic approach to the treatment of disease.  The BodyTalkSystem ™ takes a dynamical systems approach in regulating all aspects of the dynamic interactions of the various bodymind systems.  By establishing better communication., the system is able to correctly ascertain all the ingredients necessary to regain balance and harmony in function.

Once again, the BodyTalk treatment for correcting these important functions is simple.

The Importance of Community

October 7th, 2008

I would like to talk about the importance of community and how it is essential to our health, spiritual growth and personal development. Even after a powerful healing treatment it is important that our lives are supporting our continued growth and we become increasingly aware of creating environments and experiences that nurture our spirits while lessoning that which does not support our highest good.

The way our society is built helps us create a feeling of separation. With billions of people on the planet and overpopulation a clear reality how is it possible that so many people experience a deep sense of feeling alone?  How does this lonely feeling affect our life and our health? When we feel like were carrying the weight of the world all by ourselves it is easy to get depressed, feel fatigued and develop illnesses. When our spirits get depleted, soon our body becomes depleted as well.

Many of us have this view that “I have to do it all on my own”, that “my problems are my problems and I’m burdening others if I seek help”. Or that the world is crazy and “I’m the only sane one in it” so they seek isolation. Or maybe they feel helpless and that no one will understand them and help is unavailable. Many people are stuck in their box of limitations while seeking answers and a deeper sense of fulfillment, but not willing to step out of their current mind set and really do something about it.

It is so important to be connected to a group of loving individuals and people who see you for who you know you are. Being connected to a community is like plugging yourself into a big battery charger- it opens your heart and inspires you to succeed in whatever you are doing. Meeting weekly or getting together with the soul purpose of supporting each other in love is very powerful. Some of us get this sense of connection from our family, others of us from circle groups or men’s / women’s groups, or from friends or other areas.

My question for you is where and from whom do you get your feeling of support from. Do you feel connected and know that people love you no matter what and truly care about supporting your highest interest? Or do you feel people are telling you advice from their own limited experience and don’t want you to experience the pain they are too afraid to move past? Often our friends answer us in ways they feel are keeping us safe but in reality they are keeping us from really growing. Do you feel there is room for improvement in your need to experience community? Is there a lack you are experiencing in your life that could be resolved by finding like minded people with the common intention of support and growth? Without being grounded in a community it is easy to get lost in our heads in worrisome thoughts, limiting beliefs, and fears.

I have recently joined a circle group that is part of the “Be the Change – Earth Alliance”. You can check out their website at http://www.bethechangeearthalliance.org/ . We meet regularly with a common purpose: to support each other to be the change, to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on the planet. I am finding a great sense of community and am happy to share my experiences with you.

If you are not currently in any groups or part of a supportive community I would highly suggest looking into it as it is very rewarding in many ways and can deeply enrich your life.

Thanks,

Casey Onyett

The Cause of Illness

June 21st, 2008

This is a very interesting study and I’m sure if you asked different professionals you would get a lot of different answers. I find this is important to ponder because if you see yourself as being a victim, and you see your illness as your enemy then you are placing yourself in a position of helplessness, hopelessness, and powerlessness. How you handle the fact that you are experiencing an absence of optimal health will determine and guide your actions on what steps you take to regain health, and your experience of the process of healing. My goal in bringing your awareness to how you view your health challenges is to give you more meaning to your challenges and to attempt to show you the gift that is hidden under your problems.

Barbara Ann Brennan, in her book “Hands of Light” put this in a way that I find very inspirational and helpful:

“From the perspective of a healer, illness is the result of imbalance. Imbalance is a result of forgetting who you are. Forgetting who you are creates thoughts and actions that lead to an unhealthy lifestyle and eventually to illness. The illness itself is a signal that you are imbalanced because you have forgotten who you are. It is a direct message to you that tells you not only how you are in imbalance but also shows you the steps that will take you back to the real self and health. This information is very specific if you know how to secure access to it.

Illness can thus be understood as a lesson you have given yourself to help you remember who you are.”

I have found in my own experience that every illness and injury I have endured has brought along a very powerful message and lesson for my own personal transformation. Each struggle has brought along a new understanding of a better way of living, a more empowered way of being. One example I’d like to share is when I tore the meniscus in my left knee. At that time in my life I was not expressing my own personal boundaries very well. I often would over extend myself and found it hard for me to say “no” to people. I would make decisions based on what other’s needed and not myself. It’s pretty hard to help people when you can’t walk or use your leg. This was a time for my own reflection and it aloud me to focus on what I needed to do. I was holding on to an old job for security and not spending the time building my BodyTalk practice like I really wanted. This injury got the ball rolling of a big shift in my life.

The gall bladder meridian runs through this part of the knee and the gall bladder energetically assists in decision making, willpower and acts of courage. In stead of getting surgery I healed my knee myself by getting in touch with what my body was trying to tell me. If my knee could talk, this is what it may have said “I’m going to teach you to make your own decisions, to find the courage inside you to do what you must. It’s time to get in touch with your willpower and start taking your own steps.”  If my knee had not clearly given me that message I probably would be stuck in old patterns of that time. My knee is back to being fully functional and once again showed me the amazing healing ability of the body. Be slow to judge your problems as bad; they may be the biggest gifts to you once you fully accept the message they bring.

The Seriousness of Illness

June 5th, 2008

I see illness as very serious. I also see great health as humorous and fun.

Could it be that a huge cause of sickness is people taking themselves and their lives too seriously? We will always experience a good mixture of different events in our lives. This is part of the natural rhythm of life.

When we start to label certain events as bad, we start resisting the natural flow of life. We say things like “This shouldn’t have happened” or “What did I do to deserve this”, and we start becoming disempowered by resisting what is. If I have learned anything in life it’s that what is….is, because it couldn’t be otherwise and it will be until it isn’t. So that being said, the next time you’re in a moment of resisting, why don’t you allow yourself to experience whatever is going on and see where it takes you.

One time I was drumming with some friends, entertaining a crowd outside by the beach and a car drove by and threw a bunch of eggs at us. At first I could feel myself getting angry thinking, “Why would anyone throw a bunch of eggs at entertainers”? Then I looked around at other people’s faces who seemed to be experiencing a level of shock, wondering how we were going to handle the egging. I started laughing seeing the humor in the situation. I could have let this drive by egging ruin my day, but instead I had fun with it and now have a great story to tell. Not to mention that people had thanked us for playing with big smiles on our faces even after getting egged.

People, events, or situations may appear as bad, negative, frustrating or tough but I encourage you to realize that it’s not the external event that make’s you feel. It’s your perspective of it. People who are serious tend to get sick way more often and people who are happy just seem to be healthier and free. Even scientifically, a happier person has a stronger immune system and is less likely to suffer from sickness.

One thing you will experience from BodyTalk Sessions is that it just seems easier to go with the flow in your everyday life. BodyTalk helps remove our quick responses to stress and anger by removing stored unexpressed emotions, by getting our heart and feelings in touch with our mind and our thoughts, and increasing our sense of well being and inner peace. When our energy systems are balanced we find it easier to stay in the moment and go with the flow. Instead of “shoulding” all over events and people we take responsibility in how we handle what happens. And never forget that just a simple laugh can change the whole dynamic of a serious situation.

A new perspective to health

June 3rd, 2008

We need a shift in how we perceive health.

BodyTalk is based on a new paradigm of healing. Each of us is made up of many stories. Which stories we focus on literally creates our health—the stories inform cell function. The silica inside the centrioles (inside the centrosomes) of the cells (according to Dr. Bruce Lipton) store our attitudes and beliefs. These beliefs communicate with our RNA and then our DNA so that our new cells are never born free.

Our cells are trapped within whatever stories are receiving our attention and awareness. BodyTalk brings light to aspects of this story so that an Ah-ha awareness occurs. When this awareness is strong enough, new stories get our attention. For example, the arthritic knee must become the knee that can heal to the knee that is healing to the knee that is healthy to the man with the healthy knees who can now run to the man that can now follow his resolve and surrender the old story called – I can’t run. I have an arthritic knee. I have no power. I am a door mat. All of these stories are interconnected.

BodyTalk enables profound shifts in our awareness. Each time a new understanding is truly accepted and understood, the body has no other recourse than to make all the adaptations necessary to accommodate the new story. Some stories are so deep seated, they are genetic. Literally these observations are now in our DNA. Shifting the DNA requires much more work as you can imagine. By healing yourself now, you are healing generations to come. Any story that you ignore repeatedly will end up in your DNA. It has to.

What is your body telling you? What stories have you stopped questioning?

I am shy.
I am prone to ulcers.
I have nightmares.
I am an insomniac.
I am emotional.
I am afraid of spiders.
I don’t deserve happiness.
It is not safe to be me.

In summary: All of these statements are stories. Yet, these tales are stored in our cells. These tales tell the cells how to behave.

Awareness is key. BodyTalk reveals a part of the story that you haven’t read for awhile. The formulas that are revealed allow you to observe the habits, the attitudes, and beliefs that no longer serve you and allow you to return to a new focus: shining the light on stories that will serve you better. These stories have always been there. BodyTalk cannot add anything new. BodyTalk is the catalyst for you to heal. You do the healing by shifting your awareness to new interpretations of your life. Amazing!

Healing

May 27th, 2008

Healing may not be so much about
Getting better as about
Letting go of everything
That isn’t you.
All the expectations,
All the beliefs
And becoming who you are.
Not a better you, but a realer you.
We need to let go,
To throw away everything that isn’t us
In order to be more whole.

Life’s lessons

May 20th, 2008

When you were born, you didn’t come with an owners manual; these guidelines will make life work better.

1. YOU WILL RECEIVE A BODY. You may like it or hate it, but it’s the only thing you are sure to keep for the rest of your life.

2. YOU WILL LEARN LESSONS. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called Life on Planet Earth. Every person or incident is the Universal Teacher.

3. THERE ARE NO MISTAKES, ONLY LESSONS. Growth is a process of experimentation. Failure is as much a part of the process as success.

4. A LESSON IS REPEATED UNTIL LEARNED. It is presented to you in various forms until you learn it - then you can go on to the next lesson.

5. IF YOU DON’T LEARN EASY LESSONS, THEY GET HARDER. External problems are a precise reflection of your internal state. When you clear inner obstructions, your outside world changes. Pain is how the universe gets your attention.

6. YOU WILL KNOW YOU’VE LEARNED A LESSON WHEN YOUR ACTIONS CHANGE. Wisdom is practice. A little of something is better than a lot of nothing.

7. “THERE” IS NO BETTER THAN “HERE”. When your “there” becomes a “here, you will simply obtain another “there” that again looks better than “here.

8. OTHERS ARE ONLY MIRRORS OF YOU. You cannot love or hate something about another unless it reflects something you love or hate in yourself.

9. YOUR LIFE IS UP TO YOU. Life provides the canvas; you do the painting. Take charge of your life–or someone else will.

10. YOU ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU NEED. Your subconscious rightfully determines what energies, experiences, and people you attract. Therefore, the only foolproof way to know what you need is to see what you have. There are no victims, only students.

BodyTalk Overview

May 20th, 2008

BodyTalk System Overview: Australian Chiropractor and Acupuncturist, Dr. John Veltheim, developed the BodyTalk System in 1995. Since then it has been taught to over a thousand practitioners worldwide. Currently there are 47 trained BodyTalk instructors teaching in 17 countries. Graduates include medical doctors and specialists, psychologists, psychotherapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, physical therapists, osteopaths, nurses, licensed massage therapists, and laypeople.
The outstanding growth and success of the BodyTalk system is essentially fueled by the following factors:

1. Outstanding results occur in almost every sphere of heath care.

2. It can be used as a stand-alone health care system and can be learned in a relatively short time. The basic program is covered in just two weekend modules totaling 38 hours of workshop time.

3. It can be seamlessly integrated into any other health care modality and is complementary to each modality.

4. It is totally non-invasive and absolutely safe. There are no contradictions to its use.

 5. No diagnosis is given, no medications prescribed, and no invasive techniques imposed upon the patient. The BodyTalk System does not conflict with, or legally contravene, any existing health care system or law.

 6. Patients thoroughly enjoy the sessions and the results are evident within all aspects of health – mind, body, and spirit.

The basic premises underlying The BodyTalk System constitute a new paradigm for synchronizing and balancing the bodymind that can be implemented in conjunction with any health care system. The body is a very complex ecosystem involving a delicate balance between physiological biochemical functions, emotional and mental interactions, environmental influences, hereditary and genetic restrictions, and the need to synchronize all these factors into a cohesive whole.
Until now the majority of health care systems have tended to take a Cartesian approach and have focused on isolated parts of the bodymind equation. The whole picture, incorporating all the variables, has been placed in the ‘too hard’ basket. This is because the human mind, even with the help of modern science and equipment, is incapable of thinking on such a comprehensive scale. The BodyTalk System recognizes that within each and every one of us there lies the innate knowing of who we are and what makes us tick. This innate wisdom carries the answer to our health care dilemma. This is addressed in the following way:

1. The BodyTalk System facilitates communication with the innate wisdom of the body by using neuromuscular biofeedback. This feedback provides the practitioner with a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to any question that is asked of the body. The innate wisdom thus provides BodyTalkers accurate guidelines with regard the bodymind requirements for optimum health.

2. By following a comprehensive protocol of questions, the BodyTalk practitioner can establish exactly what balancing the body needs in order to harmonize bodymind function. This involves finding out which organs, endocrines, or body parts need to be connected to heal communication between them at the physiological, biochemical, circulatory, nervous, emotional, and/or energy levels.

3. The patient and/or practitioner touch the parts that need repair and the practitioner then uses his/her fingers to gently tap the head of the patient in order to focus the brain toward repair. BodyTalk ‘tapping’ is based on an old Hatha Yoga technique and experiments with biofeedback apparatus show that when this tapping occurs while specific parts are being touched there is a major increase in brain activity in relation to those parts.

4. The practitioner then lightly taps the chest to store the changes in the heart energy complex, which ensures that the new balance is held in deep memory and is, therefore, lasting.

Clinical results have shown that once the communications systems of the body have been reestablished and the bodymind complex synchronized, the body is capable of healingitself at a deep and lasting level. This is something that modern health care systems have tended to forget, or ignore. The trend has been to want to play “God” and intervene in the body’s natural processes even though it is clear that allopathic health care training provides only a glimpse into the complex interactions of the bodymind. Of course, there are times that natural healing is limited. The typical emergency such as a car accident, where the body is in crisis, attests to the need of skilled intervention in the form of modern medicine. Nevertheless, BodyTalk practitioners are seeing the incredible healing power of a ‘balanced’ body in the daily results obtained in practice. The functions of every part of the body and mind are improved. This means that the immune system will start to eliminate chronic and acute viruses, bacteria, parasites, and toxins. Reestablishing of the mind/body balance reduces allergies, emotional and psychological disorders. It also improves posture and coordination, digestion and elimination, brain functions, learning disorders, and states of distorted consciousness in the form of negative belief systems and attitudes.

The BodyTalk System does not rely upon diagnosis and the BodyTalk practitioner does not prescribe, use invasive techniques, or do anything that can cause harm to the body. This makes it one of the rare health care systems that can be classified as totally safe and truly holistic in its approach to reestablishing the optimum health of the patient. It is complementary to all other health care systems and can be used as a stand-alone system or be integrated into any other health care practice. It can also be safely used by the layperson as a means of assisting in the health care of themselves, their family, and friends.

Every person who is sincerely interested in the concepts of total health care and has a respect for the power of the potential of human bodymind, should find out more about the BodyTalk System.
