Vancouver BodyTalk | BodyTalk Session

BodyTalk reminds us, in essence, to listen – our bodies will tell us what we need. They always have. – Dr. Susan lark, MD

What is BodyTalk?

BodyTalk is an astonishingly simple and effective form of therapy that allows the body's energy systems to be re-synchronized so they can operate as nature intended. Each system, cell and atom is in constant communication with each other at all times. Through exposure to the stresses of day-to-day life, however, these lines of communication can become compromised, which then leads to a decline in physical, emotional and/or mental well-being. Reconnecting these lines of communication enables the body's mechanisms to function at optimal levels, thus preventing disease and rapidly accelerating the healing process. In this way, BodyTalk stimulates the body's innate ability to balance and heal itself. BodyTalk can be used as a standalone system to treat many health problems or can be seamlessly integrated into any healthcare system to increase its effectiveness.

BodyTalk's major assets are its simplicity, safety and the speed of its results. It is non-invasive and objective in application and works effectively on humans and animals alike. Even if a BodyTalk technique is performed incorrectly, it simply means that there will be no result or change. It will not make things worse. It follows, therefore, that anyone who receives BodyTalk has nothing to lose and everything to gain as far as his or her health is concerned.

How BodyTalk Works:

BodyTalk is based on the principle that the body is capable of healing itself at all levels - As evidenced by the healing process that is automatically initiated when a person cuts their finger or twists their ankle. The stresses of daily living can compromise this innate healing ability and lead to degeneration and illness. BodyTalk serves to remind the bodymind to direct its healing attention to these compromised areas.

Good health is predicated on optimum communication among all the systems of the body. During a BodyTalk session, the practitioner facilitates communication with the innate wisdom of the bodymind by using neuromuscular biofeedback. After asking a series of yes or no questions, the clients own body can instruct the practitioner what its balancing priorities are and in what sequence. Reestablishing communication within the system facilitates healing.

Next the practitioner holds the areas that have been highlighted by the testing procedure and gently taps on the head and the sternum. Tapping on the body so it may focus on its own healing has been used by indigenous holistic systems, such as yoga, for centuries. By tapping on the head, the brain becomes aware of the compromised communication and repairs it. Tapping on the sternum, or heart complex, ensures that the new information is stored throughout the body. This process guarantees the mechanisms of the body can function and operate at optimum levels. The body is learning how to return itself to its balance.

The body is a complex series of energy systems within systems. For these systems to function properly, they need to have good communication within themselves and in relation to other systems. In most people, the communication networks are failing. The bodymind communication is malfunctioning so there is diminished talking between various body systems. BodyTalk enables the bodymind to reestablish its lines of communication so that it can once again bring about a state of repair and harmony.

What is Reiki?

Rei: Universal radiant energy, referring to the spiritual dimension of the soul.
Ki: Vital life-force energy, which flows through all living things.

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a natural, safe and gentle healing modality that utilizes the laying on of hands. Reiki is a Universal Life Force Energy and the Reiki Practitioner is able to tap into an unlimited supply of this energy and channels it to the client to create spiritual, mental and physical well-being. Historically, many cultures around the world have had the knowledge and wisdom that energy flows through all living organisms. In recent years, studies by scientists and medical doctors have documented this form of energy and its role in the body's innate healing process and immune system functioning. Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment but is complementary with these treatments. Reiki healing can promote balance, harmony and well-being for people on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.

Reiki allows the energy to move harmoniously along the meridian lines for increased well being. The energy can also be channeled into specific body locations and energy centers to alleviate negative symptoms and return your body to a balanced state. Reiki can relieve pain, reduce stress, arthritis, poor circulation, muscle tension, inflammation and emotional disorders.

Common sensations that clients report feeling during a Reiki session include: tingling, heat vibrations, and a movement of energy throughout different areas of the body. These sensations facilitate the body's natural ability to heal itself. During Reiki you may experience relaxation, inner peace, increased energy, vitality and a sense of empowerment.
